A Roof Repair Update for Our Church Family

Cameron DeBrew • October 1, 2026

As you know, we have been struggling with leaks throughout our church building for several years. We have patched multiple places, but the roof continues to leak. After a more thorough inspection by a couple of roofing companies, we learned that the flat roof sections over the offices and above portions of the main hallway are old, worn, and in need of full replacement.

As you may have noticed, Premiere Roofing is currently doing that work. The cost of this project will be approximately $45,000. That is a significant expense for our congregation, but thankfully, we have funds available through our Rainy Day Fund and some undesignated funds to cover the cost without borrowing any money. Thank the Lord for that!

In 2021, we paid off $1.2 million in debt. It has been a blessing to carry on the work of our church without that burden, and I am thankful we can make these much-needed repairs without taking on debt again.

This project will, however, significantly reduce our Rainy Day Fund. This was one of the major repairs we knew was coming sooner rather than later, and the fund was there when we needed it. There are other maintenance needs ahead, so we need to make a concerted effort to replenish it for the future.

If you are able to give above and beyond your regular tithes and offerings, would you prayerfully consider an additional gift to our church budget? This extra giving will help us replenish our Rainy Day Fund and prepare for future maintenance needs while continuing to support the work of our church. Please give through the regular church budget rather than designating your gift for the roof or the Rainy Day Fund.

I want to be clear: please do not reduce your regular giving to make an extra gift. We still need to pay the power bill, maintain our insurance, buy literature, pay our staff, and support the ministries our regular giving makes possible. We are simply asking those who are able to consider giving a little extra during this time.

I am thankful for our Church Advisory Team, our Ministry Funding Team, and our staff for their work in helping us think through these decisions. I am also thankful for the faithful generosity of our church family that allows us to address this need.

We have seen God bless this congregation for many years as we have remained focused on His Kingdom and His work, and we continue to see those blessings today. Thank you for giving, serving, and praying as we carry that work forward together.

Work on the roof is necessary, but the work of the Kingdom is eternal.
